Reading Leadership 101

I have been enjoying some Leadership-101 from John C Maxwell.  If you haven’t read it, I suggest you pick it up quickly.

Check this…self discipline is a trait of a leader, and a trait I currently struggle with.

“No matter how gifted a leader is, his gifts will never reach their maximum potential without the application of self discipline.”

What separates the good from the great is this simple concept…why is it tough to maintain in some aspects of life, i.e. nutrition, or business building activities, and others you nail it each and every time, i.e. fitness?

So going forth from today and into this new year I plan to take action on these points:

CHALLENGE YOUR EXCUSES
-Eliminate any tendency to make excuses.

REMOVE REWARDS UNTIL THE JOB GETS DONE.
-Don’t reward without first accomplishing the required first.. ie Xbox or other activities that I really enjoy.
-Follow a system that will allow for consistency, have it, printing it and will be using it.

STAY FOCUSED ON RESULTS
-No focusing on the difficulty of the work.
-Focus on how rewarding it is to launch others on their journey.
-Self pity and doubt must be curbed through reading, working, and helping others.
-I will no longer be an octopus on roller skates, with lots of movement but little results.

Here is to an amazing remainder of 2014, and to reaching for our goals in 2015.  Take the leap with me and Let’s Get Started
